Appointed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, an Australian Government agency established to preserve and rehabilitate a number of defence and other Commonwealth lands in and around Sydney Harbour, Vonex was engaged to extend the fibre optic ring around Cockatoo Island and improve the Islands connectivity
Cockatoo Island is now tourist destination with due to its rich heritage, campground accommodation, waterfront cafés and picnic spots, guided history and paranormal tours. With this in mind the safety of all visitors is paramount, and a cloud based or Internet Protocol (IP) public announcement system was scoped, project managed and installed by Vonex.

3 weeks including scoping and local government building works approvals.

Vonex has an ongoing relationship with Sydney Harbour Trust to help manage infrastructure projects across all their facilities. The Cockatoo Fibre Optic project included:

  • Installation of Multi-Mode Fibre Optic cable between on-site Heritage buildings
  • Installation of Data Cabinets, Fibre Trays, Data Switches and power supplies
  • Installation numerous high powered, IP P.A Speakers across the island, these were mounted to existing infrastructure to comply with all heritage requirements of the island. The speakers were then cabled and connected into the extended fibre optic network.
  • Installation and programming of the communications equipment for the emergency P.A system.
  • The P.A system is accessed and integrated into the IP phone system for local staff and
    rangers to access and key points across the island.

3 Months 

  • Installation of a new high-speed fibre optic network to connect the warehouse to the office 

  • Installation of data, voice, access control, video and alarm infrastructure cabling throughout the office and warehouse 

  • Supply and install new data cabinet in comms room, terminate all data, voice and fibre points into the cabinet. 

  • Supply and install a Bosch Access and Security System, including card readers, alarm detectors, long range alarm detectors, security door latches and employer access cards. 

  • Supply and install a Dahua High-Definition IP Camera System with 39 High Def Cameras and IP recorder 

  • Install Merake WiFi access points in Warehouse 

  • Remove and re-install and manage the NEC PABX phone system from their old head office to the new site. Recommission system after hours and install SIP trunks and re-initiate all handsets

Tyres4U operates in every state and territory of Australia and has 10 separate branches strategically situated throughout Australia and 3 branches in New Zealand. Our most recent project was undertaken at their head oäce, located at Smithfield, New South Wales.
