Local Government
The Shire of Merredin came to Vonex with an ageing on-premises phone system nearing end-of-life. Renewing the server licence would have required a significant capital investment with limited long-term value.
As a WALGA Preferred Supplier in WA, Vonex helped the Shire of Merredin move to a scalable, cloud-hosted phone system with new hardware and support from local Vonex Channel Partner Merredin Telephone Services. The new setup is simpler to manage, more flexible, and more cost-effective.

Federal Government
The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, an Australian Government agency responsible for preserving and rehabilitating defence and other Commonwealth lands around Sydney Harbour, engaged Vonex to extend the fibre optic ring around Cockatoo Island and improve connectivity across the site.
As a well-established tourist destination with heritage attractions, accommodation, and public spaces, Cockatoo Island required a reliable communication system to support visitor safety. Vonex scoped, project managed, and installed a cloud-based, or Internet Protocol (IP), public announcement system across the island.
The Cockatoo Fibre Optic project included:
  • Installation of multi-mode fibre optic cabling between on-site heritage buildings.
  • Installation of data cabinets, fibre trays, data switches, and power supplies.
  • Installation of numerous high-powered IP P.A. speakers across the island. These were mounted to existing infrastructure to comply with all heritage requirements. The speakers were then cabled and connected into the extended fibre optic network.
  • Installation and programming of the communications equipment for the emergency P.A. system.
  • The P.A. system is integrated into the IP phone system to help local staff and
    rangers access key points across the island.
Vonex has an ongoing relationship with Sydney Harbour Federation Trust to help manage infrastructure projects across all its facilities.
